expired business visa

Post new topic

Hi Guys,

I came to Jeddah to work (teaching) on a 6 month business visa in August 2014. Company has my (USA) passport.

Now I'm 5 months over my visa expiration. Company never got "in house" 30 day exit stamps or renewed my visa after 6 months, like they said they would do.

I'm illegal (overstayed) and want to exit, the school year is finished.

What's the best / easiest / cheapest way out of KSA?

What am I facing?  Large fine?  Jail time?  Banishment?  Humiliation?

Thanks in advance.

I'm afraid to say over staying is considered to be a very severe offence over here. I don't think so there is an easy way out from this. You can check the fines and the consequences on the MOI website for overstaying !!

Good luck :)

Fred

The company has your passport?
Are they refusing to return it and, if so, how long has this been going on?
I have absolutely no clue if that alters your position in Saudi law or not, but contact your embassy ASAP.
The passport remains the property of the issuing government, so your embassy will probably take an interest in that, and might very well be able to advise you on the matter of the overstay.
If there's a legal way past this, or they can minimise your problems, they probably will.
