Moving to manchester with young family

Post new topic

Hello!

My husband and I are considering another move.  We are looking at Manchester and will be coming with our young family.

We are looking for areas with
**an easy commute via public transport to manchester city center/media city
**good schools for our 8 yr old and soon to be 4yr old
**and a nice house in a safe family area with at least a small back garden.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hello tjejen,

Welcome to the Manchester forum  :)

So as to help you partly with your queries, i recommend you read the following article : Accommodation in Manchester, you will find some infos on neighborhoods and a couple of useful links at the bottom of the page so as to help you find an accommodation.

You may also drop your own detailed advert in the Housing in Manchester section of the website so as to boost your search.

For the rest, i leave it to the members of this forum to enlighten you.

Best of luck, ;)

thanks for the links Bhavna!

I was really hoping to get a personal opinion from someone in a similar position - but no luck yet.

I'll keep my fingers crossed :)

Having lived in Manchester for 7 years. It all depends on your budget for a property. However, for you I would recommend Altrincham (which has a direct tram link to Media City http://www.metrolink.co.uk/tramtimes/Pa … ncham.aspx), Didsbury, Wimslow (which isn't too far from Manchester). If you are looking for a more quirky lifestyle with trend bars close to the City Centre, Chorlton is a nice area.

Here is a tram map for Manchester so you can see the different areas http://www.metrolink.co.uk/stationinfo/ … te_Map.pdf
