Hi guys,

I am an Indian citizen and planning to get married to my Indonesian girlfriend in indonesia. Before the wedding I need a few documents for the Indonesian officials. The document I am having a issue with is the Letter of Impediment of Marriage. I have seen that the Indian consulate provides us with one but requires us to produce a singlehood letter from India which says that something about no objection from parents and so on. Iam finding it quite difficult to find such a document in India. So could anyone help me out, who has done it before? And an issue here is my parents are not supporting me for this wedding, so I am an adult and I am doing this on my own. So as an adult I am not sure why the Indian consulate is asking for my parents permission. Anyways someone please give some guidance to help me out.

Thankyou. Much appreciated.

AJCon

Hi,

I have done it before. You just need a statement from your parents in a Rs. 10 Affidavit paper saying that our son never been married before. If you need a sample please email or PM me.

If you are in India just go to District office and make this affidavit with any notary there and get it stamped in SDM office.

With this affidavit and some other documents (Check Embassy Website) you can apply for a No Objection Certificate in Indian Embassy In Jakarta.

Although I am not Indian, they way I did it was to publish an announcement in the local newspaper for 21 days in the city where I lived of my intended notice of marriage and the name of my wife to be. I happened to live in Malaysia at the time so we published the announcement in the local Malaysian press. As the British Consulate received no objections, they were able to issue the CNI. I am not saying that the Indian Embassy would do this, but perhaps you could see if there are other ways to qualify getting the CNI other than getting a letter from your parents. Alternatively, maybe it is worth checking to see if an Agent could help.

Better on the open forums.
You might well get answers from more people and more people can be helped by those answers.

This one is probably better on the India section as you're more likely to get answers based on their local laws.
I'm guessing she'll need a document stating she's legally entitled to marry abroad, I think the first step being her local Hukum HAM.

Hi Ram, I know it's been 2 years since you posted it here.  Me n my boyfriend experience similar case with you.  His parents disapprove us.  Appreciate you to share your experience to solve it and get the NOC

Thanks,  nouv

Fred

The letter to prove you're legally entitled to marry comes from your government

Hitesh sk

Bro can u tell me what else has to be mentioned apart from noc from parents ... Do we have to mentioned spouse name in that or any other things has to be mentioned .. can u just pls help in that ...

lukereg

Why is no one either asking there fiancé to help them here or contacting their embassy and researching this. All this is in public domain just needs finding and asking the right people.

Fred

An Indonesian citizen can sponsor a soon to be spouse on a Sosbud that allows two months in Indonesia and can be extended twice without leaving the country.
Once married, that can be converted to a KITAS but you might well have to prove you have the funds to stay in the country without working or your spouse has enough income to support you.

To marry, you must have a legal visa and a certificate of no impediment from your government.

None of the above allows work of any kind so, if anyone reading this is out for a scam marriage to enable them to work here, forget it.
Immigration is red hot on that stuff so you'll find yourself on the way home pretty sharpish.

You should contact your own embassy as they would be familiar with the procedure and should guide you, since many of your fellow countrymen have been in a similar position as you.

Speaking the lingo can be handy but the main point is your ability to do work locals are unable or unavailable to do.
Basically, that means specialists are welcome, but few others are.

I’m from the uk and married my Indonesian wife in Thailand
This may or may not be relevant, however when obtaining paperwork within Indonesia everything had an expiry date mostly 30 days otherwise the process would have to start again
Just one thing worth asking before you start any paperwork here for yourself and future wife, small detail but can turn into a huge issue

GuestPoster02354

Just to note, your wife to be will need to obtain her side of the paperwork and you will need to provide anything on that list (if marriage takes place in Indonesia) that is required anything different ask your embassy to provide or clarify, you maybe able to visit your government website as your home country will have its own regulations if not followed your marriage won’t be legal

sherif suchi

Thank you so much for your valuable reply. Yes it's mean lot cause we planned to do the process now.. but after your reply I got aware of that.. thanks a lot brother..

sherif suchi

Hi I need some more details about this regard I'm Sherif from India am getting to marry my gf at indonesia coming August. Is that affidavit is enough to get noc or any other specific forms there to get. Can you give me any sample of the affidavit bro

GuestPoster02354

Alls I can suggest is to contact your embassy at home and your embassy in Jakarta, your wife must also ask questions at the Indonesia side
With different requirements for various religions you may need further documentation because of your government but Indonesia government may not need and vice versa possibly contact also a family law lawyer in your home country or Indonesia
Or even a marriage agen in Indonesia, I’m sure your future wife can make phone calls this side
Different countries in Europe have different issues to marry here France being extremely difficult and French government (I’m lead to believe but can’t confirm) can refuse for a citizen to marry
