Guten tag & Hallo to everyone :D

on the cusp of the return from vacations, i find myself wondering, does anyone know where to find a manual espresso pot in Kuwait? its the same contraption available all over Europe for roughly 13.99 EUR, you put water in the bottom, topped with a layer of epsresso then locked beneath a pot; you place that on the stove and wait until the water evaporates into the espresso and condenses in the chamber above.

i've already checked Beirut mall on Beirut st. to no avail, checked near the tea pot areas.

so, anyone with any info on where to find this EXACT contraption, and not simply, "oh go check at ace hardware/ ikea/ etc. etc.", your help would be most appreciated ;)

Hahaha, two years ago I spent weeks trying to find one and explaining to confused people what is that I am looking for. At the end Fadi from this forum was kind enough to bring his extra one from home. :)

In the mean time I did find one. You can get it in Lakeland in Marina Mall for KWD 15, which is actually a very decent price for a Lagostina brand. I have been using it daily for two years now and it will serve us for a long time to come. If you go there, look around. When I was getting it these pots were tucked away on some bottom shelf and not where all the other coffee utensils were, probably because they could not figure out what it was for. :)

This is the one:

You can also find an el-cheapo ones in IKEA, but I don't think they are worth it.

Also, I believe in English they call this mocca pot. (?) We call it caffetiera. .:)

ah Riba! I knew a person from the EU would be my salvation :P see i found a few on my trip, one for 13.99 at a department store on Mariahilfer Strasse, and one at Ikea for 19.99. then i also found the one at Ikea here, how are they bad :P

the one that was at the house we rented was AMAZING! i quickly googled how ot use it, and from that day forward, we always had espressos in the morning. ALWAYS.

i think Turkish coffee can also be made in it? How does Turkish differ from Espresso?

Anyhoo, hope all is well with you!

Why didn't you get one right there? :)
Yes, this is the closest way to the perfect coffee you can get while not leaving your home. You can't make turkish coffee in this one, as it is made by putting coffee directly in boiled water. Here, boiling water is pushed through the ground coffee. Although I must admit I got a Turkish coffee in Bosnia once straight from the espresso machine, I still have no idea how they did it. Must have been broken. :)))
You may want to experiment a bit, because you will get different results based on how quickly you boil the water in this thing and also pay attention to the coffee. It shouldn't be ground too fine.

We are all well, did our vacations as well so we are in a countdown mode again.

i read online it is best to boil the water in advance, then put it into the mocca machine, but i realized then it becomes harder to handle, coz its metal, metal heats up, hard to hold :P

man, we need a few hours so i can tell you bout my harrowing experience on vacation! specifically the return flight, everything that could go wrong went wrong; bags overweight (paid EUR 132, but got back 128 from Tax Refund :P also, stuff was so cheap even with the overweight charges it was still better priced than kuwait) so thats why i didnt get it in Austria, just in case it pushed my weight over the limit, flight delayed, missed connection, rude staff, stranded in turkey, forced to enter and go to a hotel, airline then lost my luggage....

fortunately, bag is back.
