I'll be visiting the place soon, and I want a good idea of what the place is before I go; but I haven't found a website for it, so my best bet is getting some info from anyone here who lives there and/or knows the place really well. If you guys can help I'd appreeeeciate it - you can reply or PM, whatever suits you
thanks
Regatta is a housing complex with mostly oil company employees living there. You can only enter Regatta if you live there or are visiting someone who lives there (or if you have contacts with the Regatta security people). When you visit, you have to show some ID at the gate ... depending on the mood of the security staff, they may ask you to write details of the person and house no. you are visiting & leave your ID & collect it on your way out. There is a nice park, a small beach and a club (called 8-Club) in Regatta ... 8-Club can only be used by members and their guests.

thx for replying. Don't worry, I'm having someone take care of me when I get there. I don't have the patience for those daft guards anyway.. so park, small beach, and a club, very nice. What's the club do ? Arrange events and stuff ? I hear there's a restaurant too ?
I just want to get the general info out of the way so when I go there I have more in depth questions to ask
Well you can only get into the 8 clud if you are a member or are going as a guest with a person who is already a member, not open for all.
As far as the security at the gate is concerned, expatLibya mind you but your post lacks info. Because as for me when I go for a jog to Regata they have no problems, I even asked them once and they said you can go in at any time and you don't need to give any information on where you're going as long as you're regular and do what you do.

There is a small supermarket with an Italian Restaurant near it ... haven't eaten there so can't recommend.
8-Club is a small club for members from the 8 oil companies that built it. They have 2 small swimming pools and a toddler/splash pool, a gym, table tennis etc. They also have a restaurant ... food is ok ... pizzas, spagetti, salads, sandwiches etc. I don't think the club organises events, but members organise small birthday parties etc. for their children there. As I said, it is a small club.

Thanks, I understand that. I was asking what the club actually does. Stamp collecting?
edit: thanks expatlibya

Well, I've never gone in jogging ... I presumed the lady would go in a car & the rules are that an entry has to be made at the gate (for people going in cars) ...I don't know about jogging/ walking .... I also mentioned that it depends on the mood of the security people.... they follow rules when they want to...

I don't live in regata myself but often..well everyday go there for a jog now obviously I wouldn't go to Regata from Janzour jogging. I meant anytime I go there with my car through the entry there is no problem as long as you do what you tell them at the gate.
The only time you could be told to make a U turn and leave would be when some VIP's are in there!!!
