Hi Anonym8us,

The money earned here in 100% tax-free, and one is free to whatever one desires with that amount. That would have to rank as perhaps the biggest attraction of working in Oman. Besides, a good quality life - peaceful and quiet - by and large, are the other main attractions.

Your place of work would matter a lot in terms of how much you can save out of your income. Since you have been offered a house rent allowance, I assume accommodation is on you.

What puzzles me is how did they even manage to make you an offer when there is a temporary ban on hiring female expatriates for most jobs - including what has been offered to you !! In fact, Sales is a category which is 100% Omanised, which means, no expatriate can be hired on a Salesman / Woman's visa.

I suspect your company must be getting you over on some other visa. Better have this clarified in your own interest. Else, after you land here, you will face problems.

About your second query, well, the truth is single expat women, especially from the Asian countries are NOT really safe here in Oman / Muscat. There has been certain discussions here in the forum on the same topic. Suggest you locate them and read for your academic interest and information.

If you are a Filipino and if you are single (age is immaterial !!), be prepared to receive a lot of unwanted attention, and invitations, from all and sundry here.
