Hi,

A lot of expats dream of becoming self-employed: we would like to help you to make that dream come true.

Can foreigners work as self-employed in Slovakia? What are the formalities to work as a freelancer?

What are the pros and cons of this status: social security, tax system, etc.?

How is the freelance market in Slovakia?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Kenjee

Dear all,

Difficult question. Indeed, I've worked as a freelancer, extra-job for community manager. I had to register to the Slovak state as independent worker. The average is 20% tax of your income. You better know a bit Slovak, or seeking for a law company, helping you for all administrative procedures.

The rest, is how you rugby wealthy a business, wherever you are.

Hello Charles,

May I ask if I got some job from "Upwork" website, did I also need to apply self employed licence in slovakia?

Thank you
Gaia
