Buying a car in Cuba

Kenjee

Hi,

To be able to move in Cuba, a lot of expatriates think of buying a car, whether new or second-hand.

What are the formalities to buy a vehicle in Cuba: car registration, insurance, etc.?

What are the relevant authorities or organizations to contact?

How long does it take and what are the associated costs?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Kenjee

Foreigners can not buy or own cars, the only way is to buy it in a Cuban's name. Cars are very expensive there, a second hand Hyuandai with more than 100,000 miles would cost between 32,000 to 38,000 CUC.
