Buying a car in Puerto Rico

Post new topic

Kenjee

Hi,

To be able to move in Puerto Rico, a lot of expatriates think of buying a car, whether new or second-hand.

What are the formalities to buy a vehicle in Puerto Rico: car registration, insurance, etc.?

What are the relevant authorities or organizations to contact?

How long does it take and what are the associated costs?

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience,

Kenjee

What are the formalities to buy a vehicle in Puerto Rico: car registration, insurance, etc.? Mandatory insurance is included with registration. You can purchase additional insurance thru multiple vendors.

What are the relevant authorities or organizations to contact? CESCO

How long does it take and what are the associated costs? Depending what office of CESCO you go, from 1-2 hrs. to all day. Tittle transfer will cost you $10 stamp, registration under $200 depending on vehicle.
