Sending gifts from the UK to Abu Dhabi

I'm in England and would like to send gifts to relatives in Abu Dhabi. Does anyone have experience sending or receiving packages from the UK?
I'd like to send a book but the Royal Mail says that posting books is prohibited, is this right? royalmail.com/united-arab-emirates

Alternatively are there any websites within the UAE that I could order from (ordering/paying from the UK) for delivery to Abu Dhabi?

Hello,

You can use a shipping company like aramex or DHL to send your package from door to door. a clear address and an invoice is needed, and ur good to go.

for websites within the UAE, souq.com is the most common e-commerce site in the gulf, so you can check that.
