Good Afternoon,

I have been offered a position with an oil company in Qatar as a petroleum engineer.

End September I submitted my degree (stamped by Qatar embassy in my home country) to the HR department
Mid October I got an update from the HR department saying. We are awaiting the Visa to come from immigration, it should arrive soon.

My questions as follows:
1.    For work visa as an engineer does the ministry of labour need to approve my degree first?
2.    What are the steps for acquiring work visa for qatar? Labour department approval first & then immigration approval?
3.    How long does the labour department approval take?
4.    How long does the immigration approval take?

I checked online on Hakoomi website.
It does not show that any visa is processing it just shows me my old expired visa.

Should it show in under process when it is processing my visa?
If it is showing my old visa does that mean it has not been approved by the ministry of labour yet?

Work visa not needed. But Resident permit yes.
It will take about 1 to 2 month depends on the company that apply for you.

I am currently in australia waiting on a visa.

As i understand there are two processes:
1. Entry visa for me to start work (prior to entry into qatar)
2. Residence permit after all medicals, fingerprints etc.. (when i am in qatar)

My main question how long does step1 take?
And what is the process for step 1.

I was told by hr step 1 would take two weeks.
I am now waiting 4 weeks and i cannot see any visa processing in the online system.

Online visa system shows my old visa
