Hi there,

I have been in Brussels a few weeks now and haven't found any good pubs with good music and cool ppl. Any recommendations??

Hi Heiko, from my experiences in Brussels for good pubs you should go to the Schumman area (EU commision) that's where there is quit a lot of pubs where you can watch sports and socialise, most of the people are international people. I live in Antwerp so for the rest I don't know Brussels that well. Good luck

Don't know Brussel that well, but Eindhoven (NL) got some stunning places!

...That ...is so completely off topic I don't even know how to respond! You want people to spend money on a train ticket, to a different country(!), and spend 2.5 hours on a train to get there, just to go have a beer?! And then what, leave by 21.30 so they'd be able to make it back home?!

I'm sure your suggestion is valid...for people who actually live within 30 or so minutes of Eindhoven(!), but that is a very absurd thing to say to someone asking where they should go in Brussel!!

Well, if you ever heard of the a thing called BOB and that other thing with 4 wheels called a car, my post wouldn't seem so absurd, now would it? And then it wouldn't take 2.5 hours would it?
Get with it!
And if you were at all familiar with South-African culture, you'd know that distance is not a problem!

Hi, the European district is a good place to meet ppl : try the wild geese or the hairy canary. You may also try around the Halles Saint Gery. Also on the Avenue Louise, or Chaussee de Charleroi, you'll find posher bars.
It's quite true that Belgian clubbers go out in the Netherland, there are even trips including the nightclub entrance, for instance at the Mondial, but it's probably not a good way to start in Belgium.

What the hell are you talking about?! And no, I have no idea what on earth "BOB" is supposed to be. And I don't know what your deal is but the vast majority of people in big cities do not own cars! Especially people who just moved into a foreign country! And even if they did have a car it would still be a minimum of 1.5 hrs, AND they couldn't drink if they were driving!!  And wtf does South African culture have to do with ANYTHING about bars in Brussels?!? Seriously, what is wrong with you?? Why are you going on about something so ridiculously unrelated to the thread topic?! You don't know bars in Brussels. OK, fine, good for you. I don't either; I don't live there. But I'm not going to recommend someone to a bar in France instead!! Hell, I wouldn't recommend them to a bar in Antwerpen either, since that is not what they asked about!!

Hello Zwatty/Melby - actually, I have been to Bergen - Norway which has cool pubs...so I will rent a car and drive tonight to do a pubcrawl. BTW my car does the speed of light so getting home in time for work the following day should be no problem.:P
Seriously, eventhough South Africa is a big country - people tend to go to a pub in their town/city.

Melby

lmao, nice one.
