Hi,

I have decided that I do not wish to stay in Bahrain. The school wishes to cancel my Visa so that they can get the new Visa for the new teacher, however they want me to work until she arrives.
Am I allowed to carry on working once the Visa is cancelled?
Can I exit the country within the grace period and then return on a tourist Visa if I don't work? I was thinking to visit Dubai on the way home, but because of my luggage, thought it better to pop over and come back and then fly from Bahrain.

I would be grateful for any help. Thanks

Hi reginaali,

yes you can exit the country during the grace period and then come back later with a visit visa (if your eligible for one depending on which country passport you hold)

I have heard that to apply for grace period you need to inform LMRA within the first 5 days from the notice of cancellation by the employer, someone can correct me here if i am wrong.

Thank you.

You can continue to work after cancellation of your work visa. Make sure they agree on payment terms properly for your services during this period. Not sure if you will have any legal redress if the school refuses to pay you your services during this time.

Once you exit the country upon cancellation of your work visa and related residence permit, that work visa and residence permit no longer will have any bearing on your future visits to Bahrain, unless the former employer black-lists you for any reason.

So if you are eligible for a tourist visa on arrival in Bahrain, you can exit Bahrain and return on a new tourist visa. Do make sure you will be allowed entry into UAE.

All the best with your future plans.
