Yes, we've been told it's a 2 day holiday Sunday and Monday. That's from our 'fixer' guy who's attending the meeting.

I'd imagine the area around Rixos will be shut down tighter than a Gnat's chuff. I did hear the word 'curfew' today, but that's more likely to be translation for 'public holiday'

Most likely major roads will be closed down. I've heard the airport will be closed on 28th & 1st for 'Security Reasons', meaning they don't want all the VIPs to see the mess in the car park. That means the poor coppers who make a living stopping expats just as they leave the car park will have to miss a few day's bonus.

Nice to see the litter being picked up, albeit only a short term measure and only to be dumped somewhere else out of sight

OK guys....am I missing something?  You are saying that you will actually not be allowed out of your house for 2 or 3 days ... and you're happy about it?  You are really not allowed out on the streets?  What happens if you need to go to the store?  Does this happen often?

Happy about sleeping late ... not getting children ready for school early in the morning ... spending some family time ... We plan to shop for food on Friday, just in case ... but I think/ hope they'll just cordon off certain roads & areas.

Anyone with more info. about being allowed out ... plz update!!

not all roads going to be blocked, u still can drive around to get ur stuff.

Even in the 11th of Sep celebrations they do block some roads but u still can get around those blocked roads.

just need to know the back streets

A benefit of living out on the edge of town, life will carry on as normal. But with days off! Nice

Emmm, nothing! well I remember last year I found a crowd of people on the shaat street waiting for some celebration, bon fire and what not turned out the celebrations were taking place in the Mitiga Airport. LOL!!!

Oh dear, you guys don't know much about the history here do you. 1st September is the celebration of the revolution. The leader came to power on 1st September 1969. On the 40th anniversary there was a huge celebration in Tripoli, the city center was closed off then.

And purely selfishly I want to know if they are national holidays since I live in Benghazi ;-)

Been told that the government wont make an announcement until late afternoon. No half day for me then

our visa expired on the 30th, we are leaving that on 29th and the airport/road is going to be closed? Is the plane going to take off empty without it's passenger?

Latest annoying rumour I have heard (well 2 actually) 1st one is the days off are just for Schools and Universities 2nd one was that the only area that is to be shut down is the area where the conference is being held, now this is really getting on my t1ts

Our well connected PRO told us this afternoon (Thursday) that nothing had been announced officially. Maybe something announced tonight who knows.

We were told business as usual for us, but don't suppose we will see many of the locals official holiday or not.

Heard a lot of roads closed or heavy security, and there will be no taxis etc but all rumours nothing confirmed

Understand delegates staying at Radisson so around there will be a no go area. They took the Radisson sign down for some reason not sure if that has something to do with the Summit or not???

As I left the office at 5pm tonight, I suggested that we take the default position as 'no work until Wednesday' unless informed otherwise

No, it's not a national holiday. As somebody else said earlier, it's really just a curfew.

I'm pretty sure the guy meant the anniversary of the revolution which is on the first of September. He probably just had the dates mixed up.

Mixed rumours but the latest from last night is that all roads to the city centre will be closed Sun, Mon & Tue. I certainly wont be disappointed if I don't reach work

Hi guys. I live really near the Rixos hotel and don't have a car of my own - I rely entirely on taxis. Do you think I'll be able to get to work on Sunday morning (assuming it's on... still don't know) or would I do better to stay with friends in a different part of Tripoli? Thanks.

I heard that the area near the Rixos hotel will be closed starting from tonight.  Major roads downtown will be closed.  Libyan public schools have been closed for sunday and monday.  My kids are at ISM and they were not advised about a holiday. They were told to watch the news.

My best friend's husband is supposed to travel to tripoli for business this week (not summit related) -- I don't know if it would be worth it for him still to go.   I'll at least let him know.
