Radiator problems in apartment

I am having problems with one of my radiators in my apartment. It will only heat up a little. The others seem to work fine. I am from the U.S. and not used to this system of hot water. Who do I call to fix them? Anyone can suggest a good and honest person in Bucharest?

You could try opening the air bleed valve (usually small and square in shape, opposite side from where the pipe leads in) with a radiator key or small wrench and letting any air out until water begins to stream out.  There might be some air trapped in there preventing the radiator from heating up entirely.

This wikihow might be helpful as a starting point before calling a plumber.

Hello,

If you call my team of property managers, Simona to be exact, in the White Mountain Property Unirii office (see land line number on website header because I don't think you cant post numbers on here)  ask her for the number of the plumber we use. I forget his name now, but he is very good. A rare find.

It might be a poor pipe routing, a clogged or gunged up radiator, or a simple valve issue. If you are on common heating you might have to wait until May 16 before the Admin will drain the system for you.  If you are on independent heating & ads, it is much easier.

As a temp, not very elegant measure, tape up- all the windows in that area. Even a pin hole draft will cool the apartment significantly. Additionally, line some card board with tin-foil & put it behind all the rads so you are not heating the bricks!

Best of luck

Could you please recommend your contact in the BUSINESS DIRECTORY section of the site?  This will make it easier for those in need to connect directly with service providers, instead of having to contact your business first.  Thank you.

Romaniac, I was not recommending my business. Lets be clear. Although I do this for a living, I was not offering to charge or provide this or any other service.

I was simply suggesting the gentleman contact my team (without posting a number) to get a number of another company, a company who would never end up in that directory in a million years (such is the nature of plumbers & electricians) but happen to be exactly what the expat is looking for. I did not name that other company.

If I put, as you suggest. in the business section a note saying call me, I might be able to recommend another company if you contact me, not only would it not be read by anyone, but it would not help the person out.

I suppose I just have to ask people to pm me if I want to comment on their request.  But offering any service, I was definitely not trying to.

I will refrain from replies in future though, in order not to risk breaking any rules.

Apologies again.

You can recommend a business or service provider in the Business Directory, it does not have to be a referral to your own business.  In that area, you can enter the name and phone number of the service provider, NOT a note saying to call you, as you suggest.  This then becomes useful to any expat that needs it, and is more efficient than one expat calling you to get the info.

Indeed, let's be clear, I did not accuse you of advertising your business or breaking any rules.  I suggested a way to help possibly many expats, instead of just one, by eliminating your office as the "middle-men" to the plumber.  Asking people to PM you for the info, also, does not help the info reach those that need it.  That's why we have the business directory.  I hope you understand more clearly now.
