Bringing a dog to Mexico from the U.S.

Post new topic

I have seen some articles about Mexico tightening up on Tourists bringing dogs to Mexico. Right now in Jan of 2016, what does that mean? Could someone post any changes or new restrictions they may know about. Thanks

I believe you need a certification from your veterinarian stating that the dog has all vaccinations and is healthy. It has to be dated within 10 days of your arrival to Mexico. You may also need a suitable crate or carrier for your pet.

How many dogs can you bring?

I was wondering the same thing. I have 5 dogs and 2 cats. I cannot leave them behind- I am afraid it may be a problem.

I looked into bring my 80lb dog with me to Mexico and because of his size he must go in the cargo bay. Not many airlines will take a pet in cargo anymore so...

I spoke with a Pet Transporter Company near where I live and the fee to fly from Miami to Mexico City one way was $1800 plus $800 for customs.

I have not tried another Pet Transporter yet to get a comparison but I was astonished.
