Hi,

As an expat living in Iceland, what would you advise the ones about to pack to bring along?

What are the items you can easily find in Iceland? On the other hand, what is less common or quite expensive?

Share with us what you would recommend to bring in one’s suitcase or container when moving to Iceland.

Thank you in advance,

Christine

Almost everything is cheaper outside Iceland, but I can't really think of anything aside from certain food/drink items that you absolutely can't get here.

You don't need anything special to live in Iceland, just warm/waterproof/windproof clothing. Don't bother with an umbrella though because the wind means you won't often be able to use it. I don't know anyone here who owns an umbrella, people just use hoods and hats. Of course outdoor clothing is readily available here, though it is expensive like everything else.
