Canadian Looking for work in Real Estate ( property management )

Post new topic

Terilee

Hello Everyone :)
Hubby & I are looking to escape winters permanently within the next year ( for sure )
As  a Realtor in Canada for the past  8 years, I would love to still be involved when we make our move
to DR.
Can I get some advice please ?

1)  Is this Possible ?
2)  Is there a good chance that I can find a brokerage to work with ?
3)  How is the market doing in DR ?

We are considering the Cabarete/ Sosua   & Punta Cana areas

Thank You,
Teri

Yes, it is possible, just ask the other million or so other gringos that are doing the very same.

Let me add that we sold real estate here for the first 6 years we were here.  You can do so with out much of a problem (working for an established agency)

The market is improving but still a bit depressed but we see a definite upward movement in the last year or more.

The issue you will find is that it is very different from what you know, the industry is not regulated.  AND every taxi driver, bartender and many many expats are now realtors with little or no experience or education in the industry.

You will need a good amount of time to get used to this place, understand how things actually work and then set yourself up to do business.
