Environmental protection in Mozambique

Post new topic

Hi,

Environmental protection is a challenging issue for all the countries around the world. Would you say this issue is deemed of significance in Mozambique?

Is the country going green through initiatives like waste management and selective sorting programs, renewable energies, public transport, green awareness campaigns and so forth?

How do you personally commit to improve the environment in your daily life?

We would greatly appreciate if you could tell us more about the various local initiatives for sustainable development in Mozambique.

Many thanks in advance!

During the 4 years that I lived in Mozambique I never got the impression that protection of the environment was of any importance to most Mozambicans. Most people were struggling to survive and people who had acquired sudden wealth couldn't care less.Chinese companies are wrecking the country, felling the remaining forests and digging where ever any precious metal can be found. Large tracts of land are transfrmed into mass agricultural areas to produce food not for Mozambicans but for the new colonial power: China.
There are a few enthousiastic persons who try to protect the environment but they do not get much support, certainly not from the people in power who receive plentiful handouts from the Chinese.
