Hi everyone,

I moved to Malta from the UK with my boyfriend in February. Now that we are feeling a bit more settled here we figure the next thing to do is make some new friends and build our social circle!

This may sound silly but I have no idea how to make friends anymore! I have joined some expat groups and am a member of MeetUp, but does anyone else have any tips for making friends or are any of you in the same boat?

Would love any advice you have!

Thank you :)

Debbie

Hi sue

Yes definitely! Let me know when you're here and settled enough and we could get a coffee or drink! Do you know where you will be moving to in Malta?

Thank you for your reply :-)

Hi all,

I am also planning to move to Malta in July, will be great to meet-up.

Will also keep an eye on the Social Group.

deejay1988

Happy to meet up with you both when you are here! Will be nice to know people in the same boat! When do you arrive?

fantafunbus

I'd like that.

Its all dependent on when my work visa arrives.

I've been told that the process can take up to 2 months.

Really excited!

deejay1988

Sorry my computer decided to post my reply several times!

When do you arrive Wayne88? Happy to meet up when your settled :)

wayne88

We arrive on 7th May.
Booked into a hotel for 2 weeks while we arrange for something more permanent, having a bit of a nightmare at the moment trying to find the right property.
Must admit I am stressing out a little which isnt like me. Where are you from in the UK and what part of Malta are you staying in?

Wayne88, My wife and I did the same last year, had a week in a hotel and found a great place in that week. Try and arrange meetings as soon as possible Email them as concise a list of requirements as you can think of before you arrive and prepare for some mammoth viewing sessions. I would advise a pen and paper (or recording device) and take pictures. Dont be afraid to tell the agent what is wrong (or right) with a place so they can adjust the search if necessary, you may find your requirements change after viewing a few places.

It's definitely achievable

HI!I'm an italian girl and I am here in Malta to do an internship. I came alone and now I would like to meet someone to go out for a day trip in the isle or to do something during the week end. I read that you are in couple so I don't know if this post may interest some of you, in any case, let me know :)

Hi everyone!

I am also in the fitness industry and teach boxing fitness "bootcamp" style classes which are great way to meet new people, work up a sweat and go for a drink afterwards!

Check me out on Facebook - Hatton Boxing 4 Fitness - Malta

It seems that everyone here wants to meet, but no one is making any concrete steps to make it happen.
How about organising an event such as a traditional Maltese dinner in one of the small restaurants in Mġarr? They are renowned for their snails and rabbit dishes.
Just an idea!

Samantha oreilly

Hey Debbie and Emma,

Iv been here for 18 months but always looking to meet new people.
We should arrange something, maybe a glass of wine somewhere one evening :-)

Thanks,
Sam

The chat sounds great, I'm intending moving to Malta as soon as my house is sorted in UK. Had a place about 15 yrs ago, but sold it, any age restriction on this meeting? As I'm an old geezer 😉
