Moving out for the first time

Post new topic

donnie_darko

Hi! I'm graduating this year, and i'm thinking of moving out of my country (portugal), maybe outside the europe.
What countries would you recomend? And what do i have to do to move out?
Mexico just crossed my mind, what do you think?

I have never travelled outside portugal and spain, but i'm willing to put an end to this, and it just crossed my mind trying to live in a different country.

It's down to this - you will lead a richer life for having experienced new countries, new food, new ideas, new landscapes and new philosophies. you should go with the initial idea (which may become reality) of not coming back!
I spent half a year in Mexico a long time ago and found it wonderful! You will either need to get a job there, or take money with you... or live on your wits (musician, cook, bank-robber...).

At what age did you move? And why? What about friends, was it easy to make new friends, and havethey, in some way, filled the hole created by leaving those of your hometown? Did you go alone or with someone?

I'm looking for some information, i'm still not sure of moving out. i'm thinking about what to do with my life when i graduate (end of the year), and this could be a great oportunity, for working and for improving social skills, and of course, met new places.

Thanks:)

Welcome on board!

If you'll finish your studies in a few months ... It's gonna be the perfect time to go abroad ;) That's what I did when I finished my studies in 2002, and I don't regret it!

About the country you'll move to, we can't make the choice for you, but there is so many people from everywhere here that I'm sure you can find information from a large range of countries :D

Your english is very good ... have you ever thought about moving to an English-speaking country?

Mexico's alright. I've been living there for nearly five years and I don't believe I'll ever go back. On the other hand, choosing to live in another country has a lot to do with some kind of strange alchemy between you and the chosen land. Me, for instance, I knew, minutes after I left the plane, that I was home. Sounds pathetic, doesn't it? But nevertheless it's the truth.

Yes, i thought of moving to an English speaking country. I speak portuguese, and can understand spanish too ( altough i never tried to speak it). I was a good student at french, but i don't remember much from those classes, altough with a little practice maybe i could speak it. So, language is not a problem for me , i think, because these are the most talked languages in the world.

I'll be dropping by in this forum, to look for options. So, thanks for the help and i'll be seeing you around here:)
