Expand your social circle in Ghana

Hello everyone,

Moving to Ghana means leaving one's family and friends behind. Creating a circle of friends or joining an existing one should therefore be paramount in order to fight loneliness in your host country.

But how can one develop a social network in Ghana? Where and how to meet people there?

How easy is it to meet locals? What about cultural specificities?

I have been able to expand my circle by joining NAWA. There are lots of interest groups where you can find like-minded people. There is a comprehensive list on accraexpat.com Usually people make connections through their children, if they have any, by getting involved in school activities. There are lots of opportunities to socialise here but you have to go out and look because it is not as easy as in your own country but all expats are in the same boat and so you need to move out of your comfort zone and actively looking for people to socialise with
