Do Schools/education in Malta teach in English?

Moving to Malta, my daughter has three children, 10, 8, and 6. She has been advised that the schools that teach in English are private schools. I have been informed that most of the schools teach in English apart from Religion and are not private schools. Could anyone give me the correct status of the education we require.
