Hello everyone,

Living in Jordan is a great way to immerse in a new culture and lifestyle.

Have you embraced local customs since you've lived in Jordan? If so, which one(s)?

Did local customs change the way you see things, appreciate life or organize your daily routines? As far as the language is concerned, did you learn new expressions or words and do you use them?

What do you like most about the lifestyle in your host country? Are there any local specificities you are still struggling with?

Thanks in advance,

Priscilla

I guess I am more an Arabic than a Dutch woman but there is still much Dutch in me :D
Beside Dutch I am also from Italian decent and I find out that the Arabic and Italian lifestyle has some similarities. Food and family are very important and guests are treated as royals. But nothing can beats the Arabic hospitality.

One of the local customs I embraced is  never to return an empty plate to its owner.
When you get a plate of food to taste or just they want to share it with you, its a local habit to return the plate with your (home made ) sweets or food as a thank you but also to say it was very generous to share your food with me/us.
