Why would I move to Paraguay?

Here is my question...my husband is moving back to Paraguay...I am not at the moment...I have never lived there, I was there once for 5 days...my husbands family is from Luque...from what I saw, it is a very poor backward and dirty country...please correct me if I'm wrong....
But I am a New Yorker who now lives in LA and have lived in Rio de Janeiro (Copacabana) it is my second home....
I need to live in a place where I can still run my American business, I have a VOIP phone and my laptop and need a really good, dependable Wifi in order to work ( did this easily from Rio) of course Rio is the same 110 voltage as the states...
I also have an account with safer VPN and a special router that allows the VPN connection to run all the time (basically my IP address makes it seem as though I'm still in the US) so I can get Hulu etc on my smart TV...(does Paraguay even has smart TV's?) My husband has his residency in the US...we were just about to begin obtaining his citizenship...any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
Debbie
Paraguay is a WONDERFUL country with wonderful people!!
I have been there 3 times in the last 12 months and will be moving there full time by the end of July.
Oh and yes they have VPN!
Debbie,
You are from New York and LA and consider Paraguay to be dirty??? With all due respect, some parts of NY city and LA are much dirtier than most cities in Paraguay. Have you ever been to Queens or the Bronx? Its just funny since most Paraguayans whom have traveled to these cities told me they think NY is the most dirty city they have seen. I assume the last time you were in Paraguay you have not seen much of Asuncion and its modern shopping malls (La Galeria, Shopping del Sol, Shopping Mcal Lopez) or high end restaurants and pubs.
As far as internet and connectivity is concerned, you can have high speed internet in most major cities (Asuncion, CDE, etc). I have worked for a company that used VPN connections with their Uruguayan offices.
Best regards,
Rod
And as per your question if Paraguay even sells smart TVs, I think this is a pretty stupid question since you can get smart TVs and UHD and Curved TVs as well in any electronics store in the country. Samsung, Sony, LG, etc are just some of the high end brands you can get here. I do not know of any TV you can get in the US that you could not get in Paraguay!!!
I have been in NY City several times and there are several parts of the city you wouldn't pay me enough to live there!!! Dirty, homeless people everywhere pushing supermarket carts looking through the trash for food and sleeping over subway vents so as to not freeze to death at night during winter since they have no where else to sleep, and even dangerous to walk or even drive through. LA is very similar in this respect with thousands of people homeless and is a very dangerous city full of gangs, etc!!! I almost considered it a joke that you came from these cities and find Paraguay to be dirty!!! Of course if you lived in a high end apartment complex in Manhattan you might not have seen the ugly areas of NYC!!! And Rio de Janeiro has beautiful locations but at the same time is probably the dirtiest and most dangerous city of all of Brazil with favelas surrounding the entire city full of drug related crime!! The last time I heard, the military have been called upon to try to reduce the crime in Rio since the police have been unable to do so.
