What is Wet market?

I am Caucasian from South Africa and do not know what is a wet market. Is it safe to go there.

A wet market is where they sell meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. It can be indoor or outdoor. I used to visit the wet market at Chow Kit some years ago, and you could see people chopping off chickens heads and feet and that sort of thing. So if you are not queasy then it should be fine.

The areas where they sell fruit and veggies is usually much better. Near to Jalan Petaling there are wet markets with pathways from the open air carpark to Jalan Petaling itself, and they sell meat and stuff in there. It's a bit smelly and I usually cover my nose if I take that route.
