Looking to Rent in Marseille--preferably old town

I'm a retired academic who wants to move to Marseille. I'd like to get a place in the old town. At least a one bedroom but preferably two as my son will be staying with me.
And I have a 6 month old cat (without whom I will not move).

Any pointers? My French is pretty good.

Alternative would be somewhere close to Marseille in the countryside--perhaps get more space for same money?

I already did what you suggest and they have no flats posted in M!
I was hoping to find a different type of local source. Is there an evening paper that would have such ads?
