Hello everyone,

The way customer services are handled can greatly affect your views on certain brands, products, companies or stores. As a consumer, it is important to get familiar with local practices regarding client assistance in Australia and try to understand how things work in the country.

How would you describe your customer service experiences in Australia?

Do you feel welcome when you enter a store? Do you get useful tips and advice?

Are after-sales services available in Australia?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Hi Everyone,

I have been living in Australia for past 1.5 years and my overall experience has been really good with regards to the services here. Exceptions are ISPs (Internet Service Providers), they will insist on having a 2 year contract (which, obviously is a trap) and later on if there is an issue they will take their own sweet time to service you. A friend of mine shifted his house a week back and he has been told that shifting of his telephone and internet line will take 3 weeks, which is ridiculous.

Apart from ISPs, i have never experienced any issue with regards to courtesy and welcoming attitude of businesses. After sales service of white goods and automobiles is fantastic.

Cheers,

Ajay

As a New Yorker living in Melbourne, Australia for nearly 4 years, I have to say that hands-down, the customer service in Australia far exceeds what I'm used to in NYC.  People here aren't as rushed so they tend to be more thorough, take the time to listen and explain things.  Like a fellow member stated, dealing with ISP's is probably the worst.  I had months and months of frustration dealing with Telstra just to get our service started.  Connection times takes ages, lots of miscommunication, the entire process if very slow, all for slow internet service. HA!
