anyone been through the marriage process?

I´m at approximately step elventyfour in the wedding process and I am wondering if anyone has completed the process who might be able to give some insight or support. Gay weddings, civil weddings, or weddings to Americans a PLUS.

What info do you need? Obtaining a Libro de Familia or wedding party planning? I am an American married to a Spaniard. We were married in NY and then came to Spain so had to do everything through the Spanish Consulate in NY, but probably the same steps.

i am looking for any strange bureaucratic snags that might come down the pipe unexpectedly. We have all of our paperwork to turn in, and are selecting our ayuntamiento of choice this week, since we have to decide before we apply. Then there is the immigration related interview, and the approval. How long did the process take for you? was it easier because you were already married in the states or did you have to do it just like anyone else?
