Dealing with homesickness in Georgia

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Being an expat in Georgia can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in Georgia? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Life in Georgia is so laid back and easy compared to the modern world. It's easy to lose track of time. Don't get stuck here. Visit your home country or visit somewhere else as often as you can afford. This keeps the Georgian experience fun and exotic. Long stints without leaving can lead to feelings of negativity toward Georgia as well as feelings of detachment from your country of origin.

Beyond that, Georgia is far away from pretty much everywhere. But the internet is wide open and access to most entertainment from the civilized world is actually free. Utilizing this and focusing on the positive aspects of living here are about all you do.

Best of luck.
