Dealing with homesickness in South Korea

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Being an expat in South Korea can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in South Korea? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

1- my own personal experience is for you to choose the right area to live in, to be well connected to other people from your nationality or to other foreigners.
2- check out the foreign food marts in itaewon for products and food stuff that are not available in korean shops.
3- check out itaewon street for a cluster of foreign restaurants and bars with different cuisines and ambiance (including italian, kiwi, brazilian, greek, bulgarian, south african etc)
4- connect through Facebook groups with other expat families or people in your area.
