This claims 8 out of 10 Indonesians can survive without cash, using card transactions instead. I'm unsure the figure is accurate but I'm seeing more and more prepaid card transactions when I go shopping, and I hardly ever use cash any more except in small warungs and so on.

He deserved that - blind stupidity isn't funny

Private carrier Lion Air removed on Sunday a passenger identified as YS, 25, from a flight departing from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport bound for Kuala Lumpur International Airport after the passenger joked about the presence of a bomb on board.

The passenger was removed before the plane took off and the airline moved all passengers to another aircraft as a part of security measures. Lion Air confirmed both aircraft were secured but the measures had caused a flight delay.

“YS told another passenger that there was a bomb on board the plane when YS was boarding. The cabin crew and other passengers heard what YS said,” Lion Air corporate communications strategist Danang Mandala Prihantoro said as quoted by kompas.com.

YS was later taken into police custody.

The flight, which was carrying 127 adults and six children, was scheduled to depart from Soekarno-Hatta at 11:40 a.m. but was forced to delay its departure to 2:15. p.m.

Seems his silly remark caused panic - some prison time would be a good idea

Another croc

http://www.thejakartapost.com/news/2018 … dents.html

Another sighting of a crocodile near the East Flood Canal on Monday night in Cilincing, North Jakarta, has shocked local residents.

A witness, Enda, said she saw the crocodile around 10 p.m.

"I saw [the crocodile] as people were trying to shoot it with an air rifle" Enda said as quoted by tribunjakarta.com, adding that the reptile was about 3 meters long.

The crocodile was apparently unfazed, although it was reportedly shot. Residents in the area have since been on the lookout for the animal.

It is unclear if the crocodile was the same one spotted last Thursday in Tanjung Priok, North Jakarta, swimming toward the beach near Ancol Dreamland Park.

Even though a Navy personnel stationed at the Pondok Dayung dock shot it with a long-range rifle, the crocodile has not been found to date. (rfa)
