Hello everyone!

According to the 2016 UN World Happiness Survey, Denmark, Switzerland and Iceland are the happiest countries on earth.

How about you? Are you happy in Afghanistan? Do you feel happier today in your host country than before in your home country? What has contributed to the change?

In your opinion, are locals in Afghanistan happy? How can you tell?

Please share your experience!

Being happy in Afghanistan depends on your financial status and your income but most people are not happy here.

I had a long chat with a bunch of asylum seekers from Afghanistan yesterday. They're stuck in Jakarta with no home, no chance of work, no cash and not much else.
The families, including small children have nothing, the kids can''t go to school and none of them have any hope of legal status in Indonesia.
I know things are rough over there but the people smugglers take everything and dump their victims off with nothing.

There is one other thing I must mention.
These people have nothing much but they asked me to sit with them as share their bread.

I was humbled.

In my 2 odd years in Afghanistan I too. like Fred, was humbled by locals there who would always offer you something to eat or drink regardless.
It was different in the Taliban held areas as they would be on the receiving of rough justice if seen to have any contact with us.
