Hi everyone,

As a foreign entrepreneur, launching a business in Croatia is a fantastic project and an exciting challenge. Some ideas are likely to succeed. Some others are promising but may not work as well as intended.

In your opinion, what kind of business or industry is likely to succeed in Croatia? What kind of industry or service currently unavailable or underdeveloped in the country would meet local needs?

On the other hand, what are the most common business types foreign entrepreneurs would be eager to launch in the country but with very little chance of success?

Thank you for your insights.

As a foreign entrepreneur ourselves having invested in Croatia I can tell you in short all production/ industrial companies do not work or make money easily here in Croatia due to the copious amount of red tape and beaucracy that prohibits any growth or profit. However the tourism industry is flourishing and all coffee bars and B&B are making good money. target the tourism industry  and you will have success. Leave the rest!

Yes, tourism is the way to go :) Remember though - summer season tends to be short in Croatia so be prepared to work all hours during this period. However, you've got the rest of the year off to sightsee, catch up with friends or return home to visit family :)
