Your best business development ideas in Qatar

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hi everyone,

As a foreign entrepreneur, launching a business in Qatar is a fantastic project and an exciting challenge. Some ideas are likely to succeed. Some others are promising but may not work as well as intended.

In your opinion, what kind of business or industry is likely to succeed in Qatar? What kind of industry or service currently unavailable or underdeveloped in the country would meet local needs?

On the other hand, what are the most common business types foreign entrepreneurs would be eager to launch in the country but with very little chance of success?

Thank you for your insights.

Hi,

Like any gulf country, the first thing to look is if you can start a business as a free zone entity (without taking local sponsorship). After that consider the hit businesses are taking in Gulf region because of low oil prices. If these 2 basic things are sorted out, you can think about any businesses because Doha is almost 10 years behind Dubai in most of the areas.

Good luck

I think Qatar needs descovering of new Forex branches of strong and reliable european company and also push the development of this business in Doha as it will give opportunity to have regular  extra income to all expacts and locals even without investing any money. Provide proper training which will give a few thouthand of working places and prestige as well. Hope to be part of successful team very soon!

Good Morning all,

A small scale business for any other country will also look big here because 1- small population and 2 - way expensive to open an entity here. The pre-requisites and amount of investment are high and I will not advise anyone to take the risk unless you are 100% sure  about a profitable business and that you'll not have any road blocks. The market is small so it's easy to do a good research before you pen down your business.

My Friend wanted to start a small business here but the requirement list is too big. You cannot do it without a Qatari sponsorship/Partnership, real estate rentals are too high, you have to take approvals from 3 different govt bodies (civil defense, labor, and I guess munciple), there are Taxes too. So it's a bit complicated.

Now what kinda business?? I think there are plenty of opportunities in this growing market. Though the population is very limited, the lifestyle and living standards are way to High. Qataris always demand for the best in class for whatever cost it may come. Having said that, it's been capitalized by many a established business entities but there is still room for others in the Market.

e-Commerce seems to be untapped. I am sure Qataris will love to shop online. However there seems to be lack of awareness. Right kind of marketing will take the e-commerce business places. Even though the market is well equipped with all the resources, Qatar doesn't have it's own online market. There are few people who do order online  but that comes from the bordering countries(ex., www.souq.com, they deliver to Qatar). So, if someone can crack the marketing part, I am sure e-commerce will be one business which will not take much time to establish.

Warm Regards.
