hello i live in Algeria and my advise for European people who would like to come and live here ,,,do not even think about if you still have kids to raise  unless you want to have some spoiled kids  , it is sadly to say that we lack good education and health care , better internet,,, there's crazy traffic in Algiers  ,,i am talking real
Algeria can be good for old people who want to live their rest days in a place with low taxes ,,,
honestly negative points are more than positives
if  you need anything
ask me and i will try to answer you

Best Regards

nadji22uk

it is not truth Tarek, life in Algerian is not like what you think, go out and watch, lots of nice things if you have an eyesight....and of course negative things like everywhere you go on earth
i think people who are asking in here know what they are talking about and what they want, but you dont, why you are so pessimiste??

Hello thank you so much for your reply
i am being honest and so rational , i do not want people to be mislead  , Algeria is not heaven but not hell though , too many problems and issues we are living  here
i will give 3 basic  things for people who are willing to live here :

Education for their child : not good
Health Care : weak and not matching the needs of people
Underground Service like : Internet and Basic Food Supply such << Milk << some states are having a big problems with that
and too much to be saying
in the other hand Algeria is a nice country and got a lot of beautiful views  but i didnt come here to paint a lovely picture , i came here to say what it got to be said
i live in Algeria and i know exactly what i am talking about ;):)

Best Regards

yeah truth must be said and doesnt matter what the consequences are, Algeria is not civilised enough, like most of third world countries but we are ok, things are up& down, different nations are living among us and they are pleased, i think you should stand in a different corner to have a better view of what is around you..

Algeria is not the promised land , i wish you could take off your patriot thoughts and ideas when you come to judge and introduce yourself , each one of us is considered as an ambassador for our country   so we need to be clear, clean, honest and rational , we do not want to spread lies and give a false image about Algeria , Algeria is full of problems and most of African countries passed and overcame us developmentally  , a small example we still have one of the worst Internet system and speed  in the whole universe comparing to your very  rich natural  sources  and more to come
i am deeply sorry but i am taking the middle side not hating but not loving ,,not hiding but not lying

Best Regards

first of all, the promised land is a lie which you believe, and if you dont know, patriotism is from faith, and im still proud for being from Jijel, my intuition tells me that you have never been to Jijel, have you??go down to the street and ask what is it ;)
what did you do to push your country up??BTW have you been abroad?
NB: i apologize for Blida people for saying (100 yhoudi wla wahed blidi) :unsure

dear all . i am thinking on moving to Algeria my wife and I . we both british but my wife has got polish origins . i lived in Algeria until the age of 22 than i moved to London . now after spending 8 years in the UK .i hate it so much . life is expansive .Don't spend much time with my wife because we both work different hours.rent is expansive .transport is expansive a s you even don't enjoy life in here . we want to have kids that enjoy life rather than just sitting at home and playing with playstaion . my wife she is really keen on moving to Algiers but my only concern are she will find it boring if she has to stay at home because it would be difficult for her to leave home on her own. anyone who had similar story?

sistersue

Hi Walid....
If you decide to come to dz with your wife, make sure you have employment, some savings and somewhere to live, preferably not with your Algerian relatives family,as many ex-pats here have done this and many many problems start, as Westerners we are not used to living with in-laws,living separate is a must!!! There are Polish sisters living here and many ex-pats from all over the world...if your wife is interested we are all on FB and keep in contact on there ...let me know...........From An English ex-pat....

it's true algerian are very friendly. But bare in mind they r friendly for many hidden n unexpected  reasons..Most of the time algerian seemed snobbish towards foreigners untill they know u r open to their culture. But thats just because of the language barrier n they r not exposed to many cultures from other countries except maybe france. like many other countries its true bandits n bad people r everywhere n good people too but from my experience travelling to more than 10 countries all over the world, algerian are very complex people to be with as a friend or co-workers. what comes out of their speech is not always reality n true((e.g tommorrow means can b  anyday after today)) but these r their way of living n if u are to stay here, u just have to respect their culture n lifestyle. Its not easy to differentiate friends n foe in algeria as they can be your friend one minute n turn their back 180degrees the next, vice versa. So my advice to all expatriate who's coming to live in algeria is live your life as u would before, dont b too friendly too fast to the locals untill u really can trust someone.  enjoy fresh organic food n nature outside algiers that might b pricey back in your origin country. For those who were to b married to algerian, good luck n stay humble but knowledgeable at all times.  ;) May this info help a little

Hi all am moving to algeria too soon in 2 or 3 months am from egypt and moving with my husband he will work there , please advise me ehere to rent a good appartement in a safe classy area range 500 _600$ per month we just want a small appartement 1 bedroom and a reception 2 pieces or 3 i mean what re the good areas to live in there thank uuu

Tarik213

I don't fully share your opinion there , Algerians are just like the same people you'll find anywhere else , you'll find the good , the bad and the ugly .So just like anywhere else one has to be careful when picking his friends , but generally speaking I feel that Algerian people have a good sense of honor in them as well as a good ethical behavior . And just like anywhere you'll find folks from different backgrounds and educational levels , the thing is here in Algeria the way the society is set up doesn't allow people to interact with one another freely as it takes place in more developed countries , especially when the relationship is between members of the opposite sexes .
As the country lacks in infrastructure like modern  public coffee shops where women can be there with the company of men as an example that has quite an impact on how people behave in their day to day life , so you cannot socialise anywhere , it can be done either privately or in some specific areas which tend to be rather expensive .But things are evolving in a positive way I think , so far so good , and when this Internet generation grows up I am sure they'll make Algeria just like any other developed country in the world , i'll keep my fingers crossed for that ☺

Kuskus

Hi,

I have lived in Algeria for one and half year. If you ask me whether  I am happy to be here or not absolutely I will say that I wouldn't prefer to be here but we have to live here more than that period due to my husband job. Living in Algeria is not easy for a woman with a kid in many ways. For instance there isn't any choice of activity for women and kids. Maybe There is somehing but it is not enough for all. Although Restaurant are expensive, they serve food in low quality. Everything in good quality is so expensive (clothes, shoes etc.)
By the way I do not like to live here but I have to be here.

Hopefully meeting more expat in Algeria can make me endure the condition more.

Ben HD

kuskus yes you right about way of living but i guess you found it lıke that because you grow up in a big turistic country like turky this is the differnce  this is my opinion i can be wrong

sistersue

Its true algiers is a really Bad place to live. Men are so anoying in the streets, wichs are dirty, women are machist also...  no safe place to walking... you have yo walk in the middle of the traffic. There s nothing to do and the less you need is burocratic stuffs when you find a normal activity.  Almost there arent gyms.  The one i could find is far away. I live in hydra for work and i hope to go away as soon as possible. Culture is different, but i think the problem is that they live like in the past century but trying to show the rest that the they are not. Perhaps for men its different. Me being a woman i hate this place.
