Khmers pay to the state 820 Riel/kW, foreign house owners 1000 Riel.

Some house owners want to have some profit from this and charge up to 1500 Riel/kW.
In some cases a little extra is correct when the house owner pays for electricity on the general premises, like night lights, electrical pumps and so on.

Btw 820 Riel is $0.20, 1000 Riel is $0.25.

That's higher than here I'm from in the states.

Well I can tell you that electricity in Cambodia is 18% of the price for the same amount in South Africa

Realize you don't use as much as in the US, I read the average household in the US uses 900 kW per month!!! If I compare to myself, a house with 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, aircon, I use about 65 kW per month, resulting in a very low $15 a month.

You don't have to heat during winter, if you use fans instead of aircon most of the time, if you cook on gas, you will have a low electricity bill.

Some people I know leave their aircons on for 24/7, that results in a high bill but also shows they are total energy wasters.

Or they just cannot sleep without A/C...

Even if that's the case, you can switch it off when you are not at home or not in the room.....

Sure, that is what I do but the A/C's still suck the most with three A/C's in the house.

Yes, but imagine the power it would take when all 3 are on 24 hours per day.....
