Irish visa process

Hi everyone ( 'hi doctor Nick' ),
I have accepted a job in Riyadh as an architect and I expect to be there in about 3 weeks.
I would like to ask anyone who has been through the visa process from Ireland how long it took, what is the police clearance requirments, do you need your original degree cert ( mine is in the attic somewhere i hope) and anything you think may be relevant to my situation.
Thanks in advance - i have loads of info from reading the other threads and a few laughs as well.

Don't worry, everything will b fine. It took me about 2 months to get my paper work sorted. U will need ur university certificates and a medical. Take about 6 passport sized pics n b patient. Once ur here ur company will look after U... At the moment the weather is cool, so don't worry about the heat. If u need any more input, just ask, peace.

Is it depend upon the organizations type also.OR Countary to contary? one of my friend going to join one local bank but he is also waiting for his visa for last 1+1/2, will also it prolonged to three months?any body can guide plz.
