The holiday season in Puerto Rico

Post new topic

Priscilla

Hello everyone,

Are you about to celebrate the holiday season in Puerto Rico? In many countries and cultures, the festive season is the time for happiness and reunions/gatherings. Is it so in Puerto Rico? How do Puerto Ricans celebrate this very special time of the year?

What about you? Will you spend the holiday season in your host country or in your home country? Will there be expat reunions/celebrations/parties in your region/town/area?

Thank you in advance for sharing!

We expect to be here for the holidays as we've done a few times. My experience with the holidays here is that it's very family oriented and if you don't have any friends on the island you'll have to either go out to a restaurant, club or try to entertain yourself. Personally we're  fortunate to have some great neighbors and friends that often invite us to their gatherings. Knowing people and speaking the language makes an enormous difference , planning in advance is also very important, there are various festivals and ferias that you may attend and enjoy if you can find out about them, we are in Isabela and like to meet other expats.

PS In Rincon there are many expats that live and go there. Well I hope this helps.

We are arriving in the island on the 18th. Having family in the island is a plus, but with so many activities around the island you have plenty to choose from. Most towns will have gatherings around the town plaza. Lots of businesses will have live music and typical food.

Go out and enjoy!

Banco Popular does a lot of sponsoring of the activities.
