Taxes, E-Residency Card Processing Time & Rental Agreement Length

Post new topic

Having read the forum posts here for a while I was wondering if anyone could answer my questions for one EU Citizen and one Australian but with EU Residency as we have a house in Italy and have lived there for 4 years.

We would like to claim Malta as our country of residency for tax purposes.

1) What exactly would this involve?

2) Does anyone have feedback on processing times for the e-residency card. Is it still 6 -8 weeks?

3) Does one have to have a rental agreement for 1 year or can it be for 6 months when applying?

Many thanks!

Kathryn

to maintain tax residency you have to live here half the year every year, but you can apply for residency card and have it be effective the day you move.

if you do self sufficient resident application you dont even need a rental agreement, friends did it recently and didnt need it, got their residence cards in 2 weeks.

Ask a specialist though its too important to leave up to randoms on the internet

If you are an EU / EEA / Swiss citizen, applying for your ‘e-Residence Card’ as well as an ‘e-Residence Document’ for your non-EU family member/s for the FIRST TIME, there is no requirement for a tenancy agreement.

Many thanks to both of you. Much appreciated.
