*HONEST replies only* Is racism extreme in NZ?

My husband and I are strongly considering moving to New Zealand because we've heard so many good things. However, one strong concern of mine is racism. I am African American from the USA and my husband is Cuban American. We are a young couple in our early and mid 20's looking for a nice calm place to buy a house, settle in, and raise our family. Money isn't an issue, but I'd like to have a nice cute farming job or something simple. The only thing that would hold me back from moving is racism. I know that there is racism everywhere, however, I also know that there are many degrees of racism. Would I lose out on job opportunities? Would people yell rude remarks?

I guess my real question is: What are New Zealanders general HONEST opinions on African Americans living in their country?

Don't be nice, be honest.

I'd also like the opinions of African (descent) kiwis as well.

As a Kiwi there is no such beast as extreme racism here in NZ.
Kiwis are a tolerant, easy going and easy to get along with.
