Hi,
I am from Tunisia,  I have a 3 months project for a Oman company. Currently I can't travel coz i don't have any idea about VISA. If I get a tourist VISA for 1 month is it possible to renew it without leaving Oman? The Oman company told me that they can get only 21 days VISA (express VISA) then I have to renw it. Should i leave also Oman for renewing or can I do it in the office migration.
Thank you in advance,
Mustapha

Hi Mustapha J,

Nothing of what you are saying is legal.

If you are coming to work, you can only come on an employment visa. There are short-term employment visas as well, for projects.

Secondly, arranging for your visa is not your job. It can only be done by the employer who is hiring your services.

If you are planning to arrive on a tourist visa and work here, you, as well as your employer are committing a serious offense with serious repercussions, if caught.

No, a tourist visa is non-renewable, with or without exiting the country.

Under no circumstances can an employee go and renew his or her visa, by themselves. It always requires the assistance of the PRO of the sponsor / the company sponsoring the employee.

The job offer which has been made to you is sounding very suspicious. Better have the credentials of the one who offered you the job checked thoroughly. Do not accept a job without first seeing the Offer Letter, followed by a formal Contract of Employment.

Make sure everything is clearly listed in the Employment Contract, signed by an authorised signatory of the company. This document would be your only support in case something goes against what has been agreed between you and the employer after your arrival here.

Thank you very much Sir, it's clearer now.

A detail that I would like to share with you:

It's a tender which our company has been selected. It's not a job offered and I would not be paid by Omman company.

Many thanks

Hi Mustapha J,

I really don't know how this works - the tender being awarded to an offshore company.

But I do know that even in that case, a local sponsor / partner has to be there for legal and commercial requirements.

And it would their responsibility to apply for visas and take care of all the procedural needs of the expatraites they are sponsoring for employment.
