Hi Guys

We are moving closer and closer to D-Day and we are a bit nervous. We live in Cape Town South Africa and have been planning the move to Mauritius for the last 6 Months. The permit papers are in the and realization is starting to set in.

How did you find the move into the unknown? Did it take you long to get going with business activities, renting a house, getting your pets over and how did the kids handle the move? Our kids are 3 and 1/2 and 5 months old.

Please share your experiences.

Thanks Marc

Hi there, for you might be a culture shock, but no issues for the kids at that age adapting Been in that situation myself as a kid changing countries. For pets, at the time I arrived here (many years back) - took a few weeks for them to go through quarantine. The local business is tough with lots of competition, and often lacking in quality although you do get the rare person who does appreciate quality and is prepared to pay for it. If you have local connections, that does help to get started. For housing, initially, I would recommend that you stay close to an SA community - Makes the change easier. You can always swap accommodation later. The other SA expats could probably advise you on the accommodation.
