Moving abroad isn't easy, but there are often a range of services available to smooth the process. What services would you recommend?
The only service that I know of is, if you are shipping personal goods, to include car here. There are a number of North American shippers who will ship your personal goods from North America to any country in the world. You do have to ask questions, as not all shippers provide the same service. You will need someone who hires a customs agent at the port, and who will provide transportation from the port to where you live in Barbados. Some shippers will deliver your goods to the port, and you will be responsible for hiring a customs agent and providing shipping to your address. So it is good to find someone who provides that extra service. Also to note is that any shipping estimate is for picking up at your house in the country that you are leaving and delivering it to Barbados. The estimate does not include customs and delivery to your new home in Barbados.
What services assisted you most when you were moving to Barbados?
I don't know of any service that helps someone move to Barbados.
There might be some, but I am not aware of any. People who have jobs here, probably depend on their companies to get them situated. Whatever the reason, people will end up at Immigration downtown, gathering documentation, filling out forms and doing the same stuff that everyone else does in another country.
Were there any particular services that you found helpful when you arrived in Barbados?
Hopefully, people do research, before they make plans. If you have a job waiting for you, the company may provide some service for you.
Are there any services missing that should be made available?
I suppose that there could be services that help someone assimilate into another country successfully, but I don't know of any country that has such services.
