returning to ecuador with a tourist visa

Post new topic

I entered ecuador with a tourist visa for 90 days and left after 5 weeks. I was one month in colombia and have decided now I want to go back to ecuador. I want to find out what the terms of my visa will be now. will there be some immigration issue about me going back to the country? will I recieve a new visa of 90 days or will the new visa be the 90 days minus the time I allready spent there? and will I be able to extend it from ecuador afterwards? thank you

The latter applies:  you'll have the right to the remaining days and can use them to visit Ecuador consecutively or otherwise until 365 days from date of first entry.

If you received a tourist permit at no charge upon entry into Ecuador, it is probably not a visa, but a non-immigrant tourist stamp entered into your passport.

You may extend your time while in Ecuador.  However, the rules are changing, so the terms of the extension are not clear at this moment.

My spouse was in a similar situation.
The rule applied indicated, she was allowed to stay 180 days in Ecuador counting from the first entry date. In order to comply , we had to leave Ecuador for few days. Upon returning, in order to make sure, she obtained an official document  "Movimiento Emigratorio" from the Migration Dpt. in Quito , Av. Amazonas, intersection Av. Republica. (cost $5.00).  It shows exactly how many more days are remaining.
