Are all HR personnel in Saudi thick

Post new topic

miahannaleo

Ok i know this will start a Hot topic, but why are they so difficult to deal with.

i went to the Saudi Embassy today in London to get my Passport stamped (as instructed by my HR department) but on getting there i found out not only was the visa application sent the wrong embassy, he issued it too irish Emassy, well it gets better, i then find out that the visa applied for was not a buiness visa as i was told but a work travel visa, so i turn up with just my Passport (agian as advised by HR) so i then find out i need my Contract which was still not issue to me, and the flight details which agian was told i wont get till i get my Passport stamped, and my Degree which needs stamping by the embassy in advance.

Now when i tell my HR all this its a ohh i didnt know, so i spent the rest of the day getting to the bottom of what i really do require to get my Poor passport stamped.

im told this is the same with most of the HR personell in these companies in Saudi.

Regards to Poor stressed out Irish boy lol

uvnpsaradhi

this is nothing unusual and thats why most companies back home have agencies to work with the HR in saudi and to advise wt r all needed from Saudi back to the embassys. :)

HR = Horse Radish

oh men.. these people working in HR or in Admin could be pain in the @#@&... i don't know why... I've worked in many companies in Saudi and seems its always the case...

@Mia - this HR thing will kill you. Once you're in saudi - U have a hope in hell of getting out - first, they loose your leave papers for a while, then your passport - then they find your passport and forget to get your visa stamped. Then forget to book the dates YOU want to leave and come back - they choose their own dates - 'because they thought it was cheaper'.

Welcome to saudi Mia ;) - and you havent even left town yet.

Salman Omrani

well, thank goodness I left that career path. lol.

musicman

Thank God I have my passport closely guarded with me now since my retirement in 2008.

miahannaleo

Well three weeks later and it still not any better, they went and bought a flight form lat thurday when my visa is still not even stamped what a waste of money, i am past caring now sitting here in the UK and waiting and waiting.

I dont think i will ever see this being sorted

welcome to Saudi world of business and HR function :):):) ita just how things works here;

dont be depressed and enjoy the progress of ur home team iris in the cricket WC. No praise too high for this Irish effort in this WC. with their batting effort today, I didn't think they could lift again so quickly, but the bowlers and fielders certainly have.

Cheer up mate. Things will be alright soon. :)

RedGoblin

I have to echo Saradhis comments mate.. dont be too unhappy. this si the saudi way of doing stuff.. it will first really tick u off, but then later, you will understand that this is the only way things work here.
right now enjoy the world cup!

Dubliner1967

if you think its bad now - wait till you get here, incompetence does not even begin to describe it ! :)
on a more positive note, the food is really great

There you, now you understand our situation here. Welcome to Saudi :).. Another common mistake is the re-entry vise. When you travel home from Saudi or elsewhere, make sure that the visa expiry date is not the same date of issuing the visa. Also sometimes the HR can issue you the visa number already given to you before. That will make you go back from the airport and  miss your flight.

Hey Leo,
Welcome to saudi! Sorry to read of the problems your having obtaining your visa. My visa took 3 months in total, so I understand your frustration. Can you not get this done via post using special delivery to save you travelling to the embassy? Are you dealing with one particular person as I was dealing with London embassy too. I hope everything gets sorted for you soon.

miahannaleo

oh its fun aright, i am still sitting in the UK, as my ever impressing HR department are still getting it wrong,

after explaining to them the latest mistakes, he now goes and repeats the process to only go and do the esact same application and gets its wrong again, now i am just sitting back and Lauging at the whole process,

well i am happy as i now get to spend my time with my Daughter on her 2nd Birthday and even get to celabrate St. Patricks Days.

Regards
Leo the not so stressed out guy but now just going with the Flow, lol

Hi Betty

Well ive eaten in the hotel mostly, great barbequed fish and chicken and lamb, and sampled some of the food that has been delivered to the construction site (Indian) and everything has been really delicious, in the malls some frappe was enjoyed in the warm weather last week. Have not tried any of the restaurants downtown yet so any suggestions from members would be great.

miahannaleo

Dublin, good to see you are settleing ok, I still sitting in UK waiting on te visa, now I am just sitting back an waiting, and waiting and waiting, LOL :sleep

Dubliner1967

I came on a business visa, and they are applying for the work visa while im here, technically im not supposed to be working but there is a loophole for everything here :)

uglybetty

Ooh, we are searching for a good indian, where did you order from? We have eaten at the radisson and that was nice, there was also a buffet there but havnt tried that yet.

Dubliner1967

well the indian I have tried was delivered to the construction site for 11 sar each, so its really cheap and tasty - ill try to find out if its a restaurant or whereabouts it is
