Wanted to create a post for those in Libya (expats & locals) to let everyone know that they are ok.  Posts from those arriving safely back home would be appreciated as well.

can we make sexist jokes here?

Sea Angel

Where are you, Moel?  Are you still in Tripoli?

racist, sexist, the usual:)

We left few days before it all started for a vacation. Only for a couple of days with just few things to wear...

Hope our Libyan friends are ok...

Mudman

Me & Mrs Mudman got evacuated by our co. yesterday after 2 days of trying. Went to Malta. Back to UK this morning.

This blog has been my life line for the last couple of days. Now that my husband is out of Tripoli, I wish all the best to those of you who stayed behind.
I am sorry that our days in Tripoli are becoming fading memories, and it is your land, your home and of course it is precious.
You are not just piece of news for us; we know that you are real people and really good people (it is just that some of your countrymenandwomen do not know how to drive!!)
Please be safe, our thoughts are with you
fk
PS: I want to come back one day, my husband had left many of my baggy clothes behind :-)!

What are you going to do?

I am a Filipino Nurse,  I salute my fellow countrymen, they said a lot of exPats already left the hospital- TRIPOLI MEDICAL CENTER,
and that the locals don't go for duty...
they are the only foreigners left I guess...
they said their salary was put into a 33% increase because of the situation.
they are being rpovided with food, shelter & water inside the hospital. they are not allowed to go out...

Practice my secret chef-knife ninja super-swing that would deter the most ruthless of subsaharan mercenaries.
Other than that, I really don't know. And I kinda stopped caring.

You left, no? Were you able to take all your pets with you (I gather you have more than one)?

Clansman

I got shot at on Tuesday night, decided then to leave. Took two days to get back, witnessed riots at the airport, and if it wasn't for my Libyan friends (and a couple of British guys) we would still be their. Stay safe all my Libyan friends, and all my ex pat buddies still in Libya.

Never mind. I just found your post in the other thread.

Fifer

Managed to get out early hours of Thurs morning on BP flight. Madhouse at airport is an understatement. Just hope that all who are left either in Tripoli or the field manage to get home safely.

Like others have said, I am really keeping my fingers crossed that all my Libyan colleagues, and friends remain safe and well through all of this.

Let's hope that common sense will prevail at some point, and that normality can resume as soon as possible. Despite bad experiences I will still go back (hopefully).

Best wishes to everyone and stay safe.
