Dear All,

I hope you will be doing fine. I am confused about driving license in Malaysia.

I am from Pakistan and working in Malaysia. I have valid (till 2019) driving license from Pakistan and do not have Malaysia driving license.

According to JPJ website, I can use my Pakistan's driving license with Embassy (Pakistan) letter in Malaysia. I can use it as long as it is valid (meaning till 2019).

I called JPJ as well. They also said I can use Pakistan driver license in Malaysia with Embassy letter.

However, recently police summoned me for having no driver license. I showed my Pakistan's driver license but he said I must get Malaysia driver license after 6 months in Malaysia.

Can someone explain or share any document on this that whom I should follow? JPJ or Policeman?

Looking forward for the response and thanks for feedback.

Regards,
Mobashar

So when you showed your driving licence, did you also show your attestation from the embassy?

No at that time attestation was not with me. Later on I went to police station with attestation and they said I should have local Malaysia license after 6 months. So confused, if I need a local Malaysian license then why JPJ website is showing different information.

I think you may need to speak to your Embassy for support, as they would know if there had been a change in rules.
