I have a good friend in Tripoli who has 20+ thai nationals trying to get out of the country. Their scheduled flight with Qatar Airways was cancelled and they can't get in the airport. They are stuck there.
If anyone knows someone in country who could possibly assist, please PM me and I will help co ordinate. The embassy is not helping.

Thanks

Just read in Malta Times that "Two Virtu Ferries' catamarans due to arrive from Tripoli this evening will return to the Libyan capital overnight to evacuate more workers, informed sources said. The Maria Dolores, which takes..."   Perhaps somehow they could find a way there to the docks.   These are the ferries that took the American's to Malta.

From all reports i'm hearing I'm shocked by the amount of flights leaving Tripoli (in particular) that are 20% or less full

However, I'm not sure how the Thai's would be accepted into EU without visas but surely they would be able to get into transit & be able to organise flights home??

An idea, just need to see who is flying into Tripoli at the moment, or which govt. flight is going in.

The Polish were fantastic in evacuating other EU nationals who were 'dumped' by their own govts (thank god I'm not from the UK!) - will they be flying over again???

@ Julian: thanks for making it sticky.

@ Everyone else: I have given a link to this thread to the guy in charge of getting his team out.

Please continue to post any upto date info you think might be of help to them. Let's get these guys home..

Many thanks to you all for your help, this is what the Forum is for. :)

All - The guys have got out at last and are safe in Malta, they'll be going home to Thailand shortly.
Many thanks to everyone who helped us & thanks to Julien for making this sticky. You can unstick it now, the boys are going home :)
