Hello everyone!  Do you know any junk shops, recycling companies and organizations that are advocates of recycling in Egypt?  If so, can you give me the contact details?

The Londoner

I'm also interested in finding companies that take clothes and shoes. I have a bag of clothes and shoes that I'd like to give away, but not sure where.

The people who are in charge of collecting the trash in Egypt are the one recycling paper, metal, plastic, glass. I dont think there is such a thing like clothes and shoes to be recycled as long you find people selling on the streets second hand clothes. Eventually you can donate it to a person, or if you have more items you can give to charity. I guess the best answers you can get are straight from those people.

The Londoner

Do you know of a company or charity that would take the bag of clothes and shoes that I no longer need?

With regards to recycling, I separate my recyclable trash from other trash, does this actually help those who recycle or is it a waste of time? I was told all recycling is done by hand, is this true?

Wild

I guess is just a waste of time to separate the trash, as long they put it all together, and there is no separate trash box on the street where to put it separate, but if you got used of doing that i see no harm in continuing it. And yes, the recycling is done manually. The coptics are in charge of doing that as i know.
Regarding the charity company, i dont know personally any, but there are a lot in Egypt. I guess you can ask to any institution taking care of elders or kids with no parents etc. and for sure they will give you a lot of infos about.

Thanks, Wild!

There are several charities in Egypt who can use your stuff, look out for orphanages and refugee charities online.
